    Product Description

Karina Holden’s urgent documentary charts the drastic decline in the health of our oceans--more than half of all marine life has been lost due to plastic pollution, overfishing, habitat destruction and the expansion of industrialization--sets out the challenges we are facing, and illustrates the opportunities for positive change. Filmed on location in Australia, Hawaii, the South Pacific, the Philippines and Indonesia, BLUE is a cogently argued, beautifully shot and truly inspired call to action. The Friday, January 12 screening of BLUE will be followed by a panel in the atrium supported by CPAWS-BC (Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society). Panelists include: Alexandra Barron (Moderator) is the Ocean Conservation Manager for the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society's British Columbia chapter (CPAWS-BC). Sabine Jessen is the National Director of the Oceans Program for the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS). Linda Nowlan heads the Marine Program at West Coast Environmental Law, where she works as a staff lawyer. Dr. Rashid Sumaila is Professor and Director, Fisheries Economics Research Unit & the OceanCanada Partnership at the University of British Columbia.
